Kentish Early Learning Centres (KELC)

Quality Day Care

Kentish has been providing children’s services and quality education and care in the Northern Territory for more than three decades.

As a not-for-profit, our focus is on delivering high-quality childcare to communities most in need, particularly in remote areas.

Kentish Early Learning Centres (KELC) ensure that children are provided with a wide range of enriching experiences and focus on the holistic development of a child’s formational years.

We believe in play-based learning

We embed culture and heritage in all Centres to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children remain connected to culture, while providing all children with opportunities to engage in and learn from the traditional practices of the local communities in which our Centres operate.

Our educators are passionate about providing enriching experiences, using the children’s voices as a cornerstone of our programming.

Our programs are informed by evidence-based practice, providing high-quality experiences that nurture children’s potential and respond to their developmental stage and individual needs.

Our multicultural staff are qualified early childhood educators with rich experience both within and beyond the early childhood sector. This diversity creates a unique and inclusive learning environment.

Through strong collaboration with families and communities, children are exposed to a wide range of cultures, perspectives, and meaningful learning experiences.

We run three (3) childcare centres: Moulden (in Palmerston, NT), Big Rivers (in Katherine, NT), and Tennant Creek (NT).

After School Care

Kentish runs one Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) in Katherine. This site is within the Casuarina Street Primary School.

The centre is  is licensed to provide center-based care for up to 60 children, but this capacity varies, depending on the number of educators available, as we need to follow the children to educator ratio.

At Kentish OSHC, we tailor every program to the likes and interests of each child in the service. Our educators are qualified in Early Childhood Education and Care who are also involved in the Kentish ELC Big Rivers next door to this OSHC, hence our OSHC will create a seamless experience and familiarity to your children as they move from the childcare centre to the after school care.

Kentish OSHC is designed to support working parents by offering care for the children outside regular school hours. We operate during before-school, after-school, and vacation periods.

Activities and Services:

Supervision: Qualified staff supervise children during OSHC hours.
Homework Assistance: Children receive help with homework and study tasks.
Recreation and Play: OSHC programs include recreational activities, games, and playtime.
Nutrition: Snacks or light meals are provided.
Social Interaction: Children have the opportunity to interact with peers and build social skills.
Vacation Care: Incursions and excursion for children during school holidays to fill up their days with positive and engaging activities.
